Kevs Weekend Predictions

Saturday 22nd of November

Chelsea v Newcastle

With Nicolas Anelka playing out of his skin its goin to be a though task for the shaky Newcastle defence to keep him quiet. With Liverpool Joint top Chelsea will be satisfied with no less than a win. There is fresh bit of confidence in the Newcastle team givin to them by interim manager Joe Kinnear and with a fit Michael Owen and former Chelsea player Damien Duff playing well this may be a close one. My prediction 2-1 Chelsea.

Liverpool v Fulham

Liverpool are off the back of a good away win at Bolton so they will want another convincing win over the cottagers at Anfield to keep the pressure on Chelsea. Fulham themselves are coming off the back of a good win over Spurs so they will feel they have a chance of getting something at Anfield. If Fernando Torres and Robbie Keane play well i can see nothing short of comfortable win for Liverpool. My Prediction 2-0 win for Liverpool.

Manchester City v Arsenal

City will feel they have something to proove as the new money men of the premiership hav not really delivered in terms of results, manager Mark Hughes may start to feel the pressure as rumours about him being replaced at eastlands wont go away. Arsenal inconsistant form this season is making it very hard to mount a serious title challenge, having lost at home last week to Aston Villa the Gunners must have no more slip ups or its goodnight as far as the title is concerned and good morning to a dog fight for 4th place. My Prediction 2-2 Robinho to score two.

Middlesbrough v Bolton

I predict that this match may be the most boring match of the weekend, both teams are aiming just to finish in the middle of the table this year and their football demonstrates that fact. Middlesbrough will take confidence from their 1-1 draw away at Everton while Bolton wil look to dust themselves down after a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool. My Prediction 1-0 to Middlesbrough.

Portsmouth v Hull City

I belive Portsmouth will struggle this season under new manager Tony Adams as i think he lacks experience but saying that there is only one way to gain experience, they wont be in arelegation battle but wont be pushing for europe either, i see this a trasitional period for pompey. Hull City have reach the stage now where their fairytale if it is a fairytale comes to an end, we are comin close to the festive season now and it is usually the period that separates the men from the boys, Hull did well in getting a draw against Man City and i expect them to put it up to Portsmouth. My Prediction 1-1.

Stoke City V West Bromich Albion

Its a little to early in the season to be calling this one a crucial six pointer but the way the table is shaping up this could well be a decisive match when the start of may comes. Stoke have being doing well but there football is not fantastic, they seem happy enough to accept that there main point of attack is a Rory Delap throw in, manager Tony Pulis isn't exactly an ambitious manager as he seems to be happy to send out an eleven not to play football but to battle, an example of this would be the fact he starts Salif Diao ahead of Irish International Glen Whealan who is a much more quality 'football' player in comparison to Diao. West Brom on the other hand have taken a much more attacking and footballing approach to the premiership as they go out and pass and play football, its a gamble as if you look at the table stoke are ahead at present but i feel that West Brom wont be able to match any of the top four but after them they could give anyone a game. My Prediction 2-1 to West Brom

Aston Villa v Manchester United

Villa are coming off the back of a fantastic victory over Arsenal at the emirates stadium last weekend and wont be easy opposition for the current champions Manchester United. Villa are now setting their sites on a champions league spot as they are now level on points with Arsenal and wont want to slip up against United. United themselves are coming off the back of a convincing 5-0 win over Stoke City where United demonstrated what they have in reserve with a wonder strike from youngster Danny Welbeck and will want to keep the pressure on leaders Chelsea and Liverpool with a win over Villa. This is shaping up to be the game of the weekend. My prediction 3-2 away win.

Sunday 23rd of November

Tottenham v Blackburn Rovers

Spurs under new boss Harry Rednapp seem to be playing to their potential despite loosing to Fulham last weekend. Spurs have only lost one in seven since Rednapp's arrival and with striker Roman Pavlechenko looking to be settling in Spurs look set to climb the table. Blackburn seem to be struggling a little under new boss Paul Ince and will be hoping that they also can turn their fortunes around with a win over Spurs at the weekend but that will all depend on the fitness of strikers Benni Mcarthy and Roque Santa Cruz. My prediction 3-1 for spurs.

Sunderland v West Ham United

Sunderland will be looking for a win this weekend to proove the offfield matters such as constant rumours surrounding manager Roy Keane quitting his post at Sunderland are not affecting the players on the pitch despite comments midweek from striker Djibril Cisse suggesting otherwise. West Ham will also be looking for a win as they havn't been getting the results expected undr new manager Gianfranco Zola, Craig Bellamy ended his international goal drought for Wales this week and will be hoping to do the same against Sunderland this weekend. My prediction 1-1.

Aaron's Latest from The PRemiership

Arsenal - Full back Gael Clichy has today called upon his team-mates to find the consistency The Gunners so badly need in this years Premierleague campaign. He said they need to find "desire and attitude", to mount a title challenge this year. Arsenal have already been beaten 4 times this year and they really need to turn things around to keep up with Chelsea and Liverpool!!
Come on you Gunners!! I know you can!!!

Aston Villa - Defender Curtis Davies has said that Villa's win over Arsenal showed that they have the capability to break into the top four this year. ( yeah whatever Curtis)!! Villa set their stalls out early in the match and really put it up to Wenger's side. He went on to say that had Villa let Arsenal play football that they probably would have outplayed them but they stuck to Martin O' Neills plan and it payed dividends.
But however I am confident we will bounce back!!!

Blackburn Rovers - Blackburn's powerful striker Benni McCarthy will play this weeks friendly for South Africa against Cameroon. McCarthy had been unavailable at the weekend due to the funeral of his father Dudley. South Africa's manager said in a press conference that " The decision to play was totally up to Benni, we did not want to force anything upon him, but it gives us a huge confidence boost ahead of the game".

Bolton Wanderers - Not much action from the reebok this week although the Bolton reserves did record a big win over Man City to continue to maintain a title challenge.

Chelsea - Ivorian Striker Didier Drogba has recieved a 3 match ban following his coin throwing incident in the Carling Cup at Stamford Bridge. Drogba threw a coin which almost hit him back into the crowd. He later appologised for it.
I mean, how stupid of you Drogba, GET A GRIP!!!!

Everton - Midfielder Steven Pienaar has pulled out of South Africa's friendly this week with his knee. He had been left out by David Moyes against Middlesbrough but hasn't fully recovered yet.

Fulham - After Saturdays big win over Tottenham Roy Hodson really believes Fulham can stay in the premiership this season. He said that winning against Tottenham had really given them a morale boost ahead of the Liverpool game on Saturday and he reckons that with a few good results that Fulham can even reach a mid table or top ten spot.
(Keep dreamin Roy)!!!

Hull City - Hull midfield genius Geovanni was over the moon last weekend after he had cancelled out Steven Ireland's two goals against Man City. Hull went 1-0 up thanks to Cousin's early goal and then some sloppy defending gave Ireland his second of the game but late into the game Geovanni's specialist free-kick was deflected and sent past the Man City goalkeeper. Geovanni has been over-achieving this year as have Hull and I'm certain we will see them again in the Premiership next year.
